Less A/C
Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove coolant recovery tank, and place to side.
After placing suitable drain pan under vehicle, disconnect heater hoses at core, plug hose ends, and allow core to drain.
Remove heater air distributor duct to air distributor case retaining screws. Remove duct.
Remove engine housing cover.
Remove upper (at windshield) and all lower instrument panel retaining screws. Remove right lower instrument panel support bracket.
Lower steering column. Raise right side of instrument panel, and place on suitable support.
Remove air distributor case to defroster duct retaining screw. Remove 2 air distributor to heater case retaining screws.
Disconnect temperature door cable. Fold cable away from work area to provide access.
Remove air distributor case retaining nuts in engine compartment. Remove retainer screw in vehicle interior.
Remove core and case from vehicle as assembly by tilting case assembly rearward at top. Lift case assembly up at same time, until core tubes clear openings in dash.
Remove core retaining strap screws and core.
Reverse procedure to install, replacing sealer where needed.
With A/C
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove engine cover.
Remove steering column support bolts at instrument panel, then lower column.
Remove instrument panel upper and lower mounting screws, and radio bracket attaching screws.
Raise right side of instrument panel and place on suitable support. Remove right lower instrument panel support bracket.
Remove vacuum actuator at recirculating air door.
Disconnect vacuum hoses and temperature cable at air distributor case. Remove heater distributor duct.
Remove both defroster duct to firewall screws below windshield.
Drain cooling system. Remove heater hoses at core connections and plug core tubes.
Remove 3 nuts retaining heater core case to firewall, then remove screw at lower right corner of case.
Remove distributor assembly from vehicle.
Expose screws holding case halves together by removing gasket.
Remove temperature cable support bracket, and remove screws to separate case parts.
Remove heater core.
Reverse procedure to install.
