How do you change a heater core in a 94 pontiac grand am?

the heater core is very easy to do. a couple of hours at the most. you certainly dont need to take out the dash. people need to know what they are talking about before they reply. the heater core is flat, right above the center 'hump'. its real easy to do if the car doesnt have a center console. even if it does, its not bad. there is a cover lower center of dash held in with several screws. a 1/4%26quot; socket will take them out. some of them are well hidden, but not bad. take thae cover down and out, and the panel right behing that, and you are looking right at the core. easy job.

Gearhead_35k is right. You don't need to remove the dash. I just did a 99 grand am and it took about an hour. He is also right about people not knowing what they are talking about. Give him the points because I am retiring from this stupid Yahoo answers. I get tired of wasting time giving detailed answers just to help someone and then someone will make up an answer just to get points and then they end up getting best answer. Especially the ones that say %26quot;call the dealer%26quot;. There are also a few frequent posters who claim to be experts but are often way off base so I seriously doubt they are who they say they are but they know they will get more stupid points that way. Wrong answers cost people money.

Anyway, here are the factory instructions for the 99 I just did. Yours should be similar so hope this help you out.

You have to take out the entire dash assembly about a 12 hr job. It seems like with cars they build the car around the heater core...
