Info or resources to help change heater core on a 1987 ford crown vic.. websites, or anything helpfull?

my heater core in my 1987 crown vic is toast.. i need to change it out myself and im hoping someone might have a website with diagrams, pictures or anything that will help make this job easier. Info on best manuel, or other books.. does the dash have to come out? anyone walk me thru this job? please help..... thanx everyone p.s it has a 302ci

Yes you will have to pull the dash. I did one on an 87 mustang and they are similar. I used a Hanes manual I got from the parts store and also went to the Ford garage and talked with one of the mechanics. You don't need to take it all the way out just pull it back and down from it's typical position and then reach over. It is a little awkward, but it saves having to disconnect everything under there. If you have a center console that would have to be removed to allow the dash to come back and down. Steering col um will have to be unbolted and dropped down. You don't have to take out. get the manual and talk to a ford mechanic if possible.
