How can i tell if my heater core has gone bad? How to change the heater core?
1998 chevy cavalier heater core?
most of the time there will be fluid in floor board sometimes the windshield will be glazed all the time with a oily film next sometimes the defroster will steam when turned on and of course a sweet smell inside car when like this

Also check the valve on the incoming line before it enters the firewall to the core. A bad valve is an easy fix compared to the nightmare of replacing a heater core.
Look for wet carpet on the passenger floorboard, indicating a leaking heater core.

Replacing one is pretty labor intensive, as they're up under the dash.

Why do you think it's bad?
