the heater core is inside the dash on most vehicles, generally speaking you would have to crawl under or remove the dash and split the heater case to replace the core, first step should be buy a service manual and then decide if this is something you should attempt, the core wont be cheap but the parts you might break can be alot more!

You do not change the heater core. The radiator repair shop does that for you. The job intails crawling under the dash --- removing the junk that keeps it their and taking it out and taking the new core and installing just as it was when it rolled out of the factory

It's Summer and you dont need the heater now so just cut the hoses and connect them together bypassing the heater core.
