How do I change the heater core in a 1986 chevy truck?

Take out the glovebox and open the hood. Go buy the new heater core and look for it along the firewall where 2 heater hoses go inside the cab to the glovebox area. unclamp the hoses and replace. It's not too bad a job. However, I will pray for quick healing on your knuckles.

Have LOTS of Ben-Gay on hand, you'll need it after crawling/twisting around on the floor board!

you will need to buy a manuel, Chilton or Haynes both make them and they are available at your local jobber. it is complicated and it is different for trucks with AC. and it is done from the floor under the dash.
i own a repair shop, and i think you have to pull the heater box down on this one to gain good access to it there not to bad to do though just remember where all the bolts go on it,good luck i hope this help,s,PS there may be an access cover you can remove to get to it,with out taking the heater box down on it good luck with it.
