How do u change a heater core in a 88 mustng gt?

Goldwing is right, it's a very tedious time consuming job. I've professionally done alot of these, mustang, thunderbird, cougars ...all the same. And it's never an enjoyable job. If you do it yourself make sure you have a repair manual and give yourself lots of time to do it.

One tip: the headlight and hazzard switches on the instrument bezel pop out...you don't have to pull bezel back and unplug them.....messed up on that the first time I did one ''/

This is one of the hardest job out there. It is under the dash and is not easy to remove. In most cases you need to remove the dash to get to it. My advice is get it dun.

The entire dash needs to be removed to get access to the heater control box. Is it leaking or are you just not getting heat. If it is not leaking and it is a heat issue the problem can usually be resolved with out having to replace the core. An air pocket in the heater core will prevent it from producing heat, so will any blockage. A defective heater control valve will not allow coolant to circulate through the heater core.

Hope this helps and good luck. Christopher

the best way to learn is buy a repair manuel this will tell you how to change this out , it would take someone quite a while to explain all aspects of this repair..this is a skill level 8 job on a 1-10 scale so if you don't have the tools or knowledge it may be safer and easier to have it done...but however you do it good luck
