The instrument panel has to be removed to enable access to the heater box. On this particular, you DO NOT need to evacuate the AC system. The AC evaporator is housed separately, in the engine compartment. From past experience, the the instrument panel on this vehicle is relatively easy to remove, compared to other models. Hope this helps. Good luck.
How do you change the heater core in a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquee and can anyone do it?
No. Only NASA engineers can do it. LOL Anyone who knows how can do it.
How do you change the heater core in a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquee and can anyone do it?
1) remove the heater.
2)record the way you removed
3) take it to the shop which sells the new
4)fix it the way you removed in reverse order
If you want to try it yourself, FIRST go to the library and get the shop manual for that car and learn how it's done.
SECOND, if removal of air conditioning is necessary, take it to an auto air conditioning shop and have the system pumped down.
Heater cores are located behind the dash or under the hood back on the passenger side, some cars have to have the fender removed to get at it. If you aren't mechanically inclined I would suggest finding a reputable shop to do the work, because they can be a real B***h to do.
take it to the specialist
