I wanted to change the heater core on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 truck and I tried looking up step by step direction on how to change it but nothing came up so i was wondering does anyone know step by step directions on how to change it if you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it thanks.|||you need a repair manual on that one it doesn%26#039;t matter who gives you step by step answers on this ,they cant show you pictures of this,and you will need some of those to work with also,good luck on it. the Haynes manual is the best for what your doing.|||If you need more info than this buy a Manual there $20.00

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. If the vehicle is not equipped with air conditioning, go to Step 6. If the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, recover the refrigerant from the system.
3. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
4. Disconnect the liquid line refrigerant line fitting from the evaporator inlet tube. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the opened refrigerant line fittings.
5. Remove the accumulator. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the opened refrigerant line fittings.
6. Drain the engine cooling system and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes.
7. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) from the dash panel and set it aside, but do not unplug the PCM wire harness connectors.
8. Remove the nuts from the HVAC housing mounting studs on the engine compartment side of the dash panel.
9. Remove the nuts that secure the HVAC housing to the mounting studs on the passenger compartment side of the dash panel.
10. Pull the HVAC housing rearward far enough for the mounting studs and the evaporator condensate drain tube to clear the dash panel holes.
11. Remove the HVAC housing from the vehicle.
Remove the screws and retainers that secure the heater core to the HVAC housing.
Lift the heater core straight up and out of the heater-A/C housing
If you want more just email me and i will get it to you!|||i know how but you dont want to hear it.you have to remove the steering column and associated connectors make sure you lock the steering,if it turns after you remove it youll destroy the clock spring. then proceed to remove the instrument panel,yes the whole thing from the truck.after it is out(youll need help)disconnect the connectors from the heater box,the heater hoses and finally the nuts on the engine side of the firewall and remove the heater box.rmove the 7mm screws on the heater box,seperate the 2 halves and remove and install the heater core.then reverse everything and put it back together.unless youve done this,id have a professional do it.if you get a haynes manual or chilton itll break it down for oyu.you can get them at auto zone.hope this helps
